Resuscitation

Resuscitation

2016

Our humanity means that death and change are unavoidable. In the face of this truth, though, we reach for quick, shallow answers to save what we fear losing. We keep bodies artificially alive. We place our dying institutions on life support in hopes that they will become relevant again. Resuscitation is a commentary on this struggle to let go. Through performance, I place myself in the role of resuscitator as I give all my effort toward reviving ceramic lungs. Though heartfelt, this effort seems absurd, inviting us all to reflect on our response to life’s inevitable fragility.
