My grandfather suffered from Alzheimer’s, a disease that slowly deteriorates the memory and weakens the body. Alzheimer’s often leaves caregivers on a long, winding, helpless road of waiting and watching. Advanced recognizes this journey and the lack of control, comfort, and clarity we often feel as a loved one declines. The act of placing dry clay into water and watching it deteriorate allowed me to reflect on the nature of the disease. Stop motion video allowed me to capture some of this reflection while recognizing that we remember a loved one’s decline only through a series of captured moments.
